Reigate Manor Quiz Night

November 24, 2017

Reigate Manor hosts successful quiz night for local charity George and the Giant Pledge.

On Friday 24th November Reigate Manor hotel hosted a fantastic quiz and curry night to raise funds for local charity George and The Giant Pledge.

George Woodall is a very brave little boy who lives locally in Redhill. A year ago aged 4 George was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer and has undergone almost a years’ worth of intensive treatment. His parents set up George and the Giant Pledge at the beginning of his treatment with the aim to raise £1m for The Royal Marsden to go towards research specifically into childhood cancer. Reigate Manor have chosen George and the Giant Pledge as their charity and last Friday raised an incredible £1750! This is on top of the £2300 raised by their sister hotel, Hartsfield Manor in Betchworth at their family fun day in the summer.

Giles Thomas, Group General Manager of the hotels said “We always like to support a local charity and this just stood out to us as the obvious choice, the quiz night was a great event with 120 people enjoying a curry and a quiz. It made it even better to see some of the tables made up of nurses who have looked after George at East Surrey and The Royal Marsden amongst many friends and family of George himself”.

James Woodall, George’s dad who joined in with the evenings fun, later posted on their facebook blog “It was lovely to see people fundraising as well as having lots of fun, much like the last event the hotel group put on, it was brilliant!”

With a line up of future events already being organised including the next quiz night at Reigate Manor on February 9th and another family fun day at Hartsfield Manor in July amongst other things be sure to keep an eye on the hotels websites and the facebook page of George and The Giant Pledge. www.reigatemanor.co.uk, www.hartsfieldmanor.co.uk and most importantly https://www.facebook.com/georgeandthegiantpledge/ to follow this amazing family’s story.
